Allan Ball, creatorul serialului “Six Feet Under’, se intoarce la HBO, cu o noua serie, bazata pe romanul Southern Vampire de Charlaine Harris. Seria o prezinta pe Sookie Stackhouse, o barmanita telepatica, care se simye in siguranta in jurul vampirilor, deoarece ei nu activitate la nivelul creierului deci nu le poate citi gandurile. Ea si fratele ei Jason au fost crescuti de bunica lor, dupa ce si-au pierdut parintii intr-o inundatie si incearca sa-si tina in secret puterile telepatice. Datorita crearii sangelui sintetic de catre japonezi, numit True Blood, (de aici si numele serialului) vampirii au devenit cunoscuti intregii lumi. Sookie lucreaza la barul Merlotte’s, al carui propietar este Sam Merlotte, care are un secret bine ascuns.

With the town’s second murder in a week, Jason is again the number one suspect, but Tara provides him with an alibi. Knowing that both Maudette and Dawn had frequented the Fangtasia vampire club, Sookie asks Bill to take her there as she tries to find evidence that will clear her brother. Both of the dead girls were well known at the club and Sookie meets Eric, the vampire elder. Sam Merlotte seems to have a few eccentricities of his own. Jason buys vampire blood – an aphrodisiac – from Tara’s cousin Lafayette and despite clear instructions to never take more than one or two drop at any one time, downs the entire vial with somewhat painful results.
