Top 15 sexiest women in human history
15. Eve – The original – depending on which account you adhere to – and the best. God created woman in her form, so she has justifiable bragging rights as the template for all that followed her. There is also the point that, before the Fall, she was considered ‘perfect.’ A bit big-headed, but we’ll let it go. (Photo: Getty Images)
14. Anne Boleyn – During the 16th Century, to request a divorce was, well, a bit dodgy. To provoke the wrath of God, the Catholic Church and the Holy Roman Empire was a great risk to take for the right to (legally) score with another woman. Therefore, despite her subsequent execution, Anne Boleyn makes this list because Henry VIII found her so irresistible he went against 1500 years of indoctrination to marry her. (Photo: Getty Images)
13. Helen of Troy – “The face that launched a thousand ships”; not only did Helen attract a list of suitors that stretched the breadth of the Greek Empire, she triggered the Trojan War. She also inspired a number of hot film actresses to play her in a number of terrible films. Diane Kruger springs to mind. (Photo: Getty Images)
12. Scarlett Johansson – Kind of a recent one, we know, but this actress is so attractive that her on-screen presence even made The Island bearable. She is consistently touted as the sexiest woman alive, although she loses a little of her aura for being married to ‘Van Wilder: Party Liaison Officer.’ (Photo: Getty Images)
11. Marie Antoinette – The lavish and extravagant queen of France was said to have indulged in all manner of deviancies, with all manner of people. The wife of Louis XVI, she had the ability to bewitch both men and women, (according to contemporary propaganda) and prompted tales of sexual liberation far beyond her times. Sadly her taste for experimental fashion ended in disaster in 1793, after she tried to wear a guillotine blade as a necklace (ho ho). (Photo: Getty Images)
10. Cleopatra – Cleopatra’s looks were said to be matched only by her charm and deviousness, two traits that men might suggest are all too prevalent amongst attractive women of any time period. She used her ‘assets’ to entrance both Julius Caesar, and then his betrayer, Mark Antony. And, by the looks of this painting, a snake. Groovy. (Photo: Getty Images)
9. Martha Washington - Popular opinion has always suggested that Mrs Washington was not much of a looker, but according to recent findings by forensic anthropologists, and a sexy dream we had last night about the American revolution, the first first lady was actually hotness incarnate. 8. Lady Godiva – Anyone with voyeuristic tendencies can thank Lady G for the term ‘Peeping Tom’, after a man named Tom was supposedly blinded after watching her ride through the streets of Coventry naked. It’s a shame her novel approach to transport has not been more commonly adopted. (Photo: Getty Images)
7. Venus – An actual Goddess, Venus represented love, lust and beauty. Thus she was hot. ‘Nuff said.
6. Guinevere – The Knights of the Round Table would seem to be a pretty tight-knit group of guys. It’s to Guinevere’s credit – or discredit – then, that she managed to turn them against each other. To begin with, Guinevere and Lancelot were having an affair, whilst Guinevere was married to King Arthur. While Arthur went to France to avenge his betrayal, in a war with Lancelot, Mordred moved in and married Guinevere himself. Unfortunately, she didn’t make it all the way round the Round Table.
5. Madame de Pompadour – Paris’ original fashionista worked her way through the ranks to become Louis XV’s official mistress. She is remembered for her stunning porcelain face and voluptuous body. It is even said that traditional French champagne glasses are modelled on the shape of her breasts. Which depending on which way you hold the glass is either really hot, or really quite weird.
4. Sophia Loren – In the same manner that we appreciate actresses such as Scarlett Johansson, our dads were probably thinking much the same thing about Sophia Loren in the sixties. As a demonstration of her lasting appeal to men of all ages, Loren posed for the 2007 Pirelli Calendar, at the age of 72!!
3. Marilyn Monroe – What can one say about Monroe? The original ‘blonde bombshell’, she defined sex appeal. Her colourful career included an affair with an American President, posing for Playboy, marrying an American sporting hero, a very famous pink dress and diamond ensemble, and that scene over an air duct. The New York Subway hasn’t been the same for opportunistic perverts since.
2. Ksenia Sukhinova – This is a list of beautiful women and we couldn’t end it without paying tribute to the competition that most celebrates beauty: Ksenia Sukhinova is the most recent winner of ‘Miss World.’ The 23 year old Russian beat 108 of the world’s most gorgeous women to the title in Johannesburg last year.
1. Greta Garbo – With a lack of any script for the majority of her career, it was left to Garbo’s stunning features and piercing gaze to define her silent films. She tops our list becuase her film ‘Flash and the Devil’ (1927) was about as close to silent porn as you could legally get in the twenties.
